she is different because at the beginning of the book she was going to the doctor more and got treated more of a baby but now she is in school and she feels better because she is being treated less of a baby which makes her happier and she is more into doing school and other things like spelling and speaks more for herself

Do you think her new friend is part of the reason why she is more happy? Nice response by the way! :) It really shows how the character is growing and changing!

In the beginning of the book, everyone thought that she can't succeed in anything and even the doctor had said it. Her family knew she was smart but she just couldn't express it to anyone but herself. Now she is going to school, made friends and learning different subjects. In her past years she was just learning the same old things but now she is learning so much. She now is in a big class with other people. Yes i am starting to see her differently.

I think that everyone is starting to see melody in a different way then be before but the 2 girls that had to stand up for the whole music class don't like melody and the others. Melody likes "talking" to rose.Rose knows that melody likes her as a friend. And she likes the aid person. The aid person is really nice to melody. And melody like the aid woman.

At the beginning of the story, she don't have any communication, but now, she have a talking board, although it's limited, but if she had it before, then Melody can at least tell her mom that those blocks were dangerous.

My thoughts on melody have changed a lot. First i thought she was just some "retarded" kid in a wheel chair but now i think she is a smart person but is limited by her physical abilities. I am starting to see melody as a girl who cant explain what she wants to explain

Melody is different in the beginning of the book because when she was a baby, her mom and dad cared about her a lot, and now not so much because of her little sister. Also, she didn't have any friends. Now,she has begun to make some friends, something she wouldn't have done in the beginning of the book. She has become more independent by showing that she is able to do more things.

I think she is different because in the start of the book everybody would treat her like she didn't know anything. But now since she is going to school people now treat her like a regular person because people think she knows how to do proper school work and she is making new friends and so she feels more happy to go to school because she is treated like a regular person.

I think she became more confident since the beginning and she is being more open to the people and going with her own choices and decisions that she makes. She is getting less treated of being a baby and getting bossed around. Melody cant speak but she knows what is going through her mind. She is becoming very happy and self confident about herself towards others. She is not becoming shy or quiet anymore, she wants to speak up. She speaks alot for herself and enjoys school alot more. Its like she has got more power into herself. I think she takes her own opinions and not others about what they say to her. This is what I have to say about how she has changed from the beginning of the book and she will be more happier in the future.

My thoughts have changed about melody since the beggining of the book. At the very beggining of the book, I thought she just was a baby girl with just some disabilities to talk, walk, and hard to move. I have learned while reading the book that melody is much more than that. Melody May be special needs, but she is an intelligent, sweet girl. She is just as normal as any other student, just slightly different. Before, I appeared to me that she was a bit upset and slightly miserable. Guessing because she was treated differently and she couldn't express herself by talking. While reading the book now, I identify that melody is more pleasant & delighted unlike before when she was unhappy. Now she is put in the "regular" class, has someone to help her through things, and even made a friend. I can see and understand why she is more happy. I start to see and imagine her differently because she used to be sad and depressed, and she has changed. I see her as a happy and joyful girl and trying to fit in with the other students. She's trying to enjoy life even though she has some disablilities, always seeing things on the bright side. She has changed throughout the book and I like and enjoy it more now that she's having a good time. I look forward to seeing the rest of the book, what's in store for melody, and seeing more how she changes and develops her life.

Melody has changed because at the start of the book she was only in the special H5 class where none of the "regular" kids knew here with all the disabled kids where they learned easy things like the alphabets as if they was in kindergarten. Later on everything changed and the H5 students got put in a "regular" class, she became friends with the "regular" kids, and got to do tests and work like everybody else. At the start of this book she was just a kid in H5 who felt excluded from the school but as the book progresses lost of wonderful things happened to her. She got a puppy, she got a sister, she joined a "regular" class, and she got more friends.

Melody has made a big change since the beginning of the book because she attended a "normal" school and people used to see her as a disabled kid who couldn't walk, talk or hear but now they now that she can understand what they are saying. I can see her differently because she is able to communicate better using her talkboard and she fits in more then she used to and she has more friends.

At first, I thought Melody's life would not change and she would stay in H5 but she got moved to a normal class and book is like a whole new story now. I think she will start become smarter than the other "normal" kids in her new class.

Maybe my feelings have changed b/c in the beginning, she was treated as an experiment like trapped in her imagination but when the story kept going, the story started to unravel the secrets and I thought of her now as a human being with some different features, but still human

The difference I see in Melody from the beginning of the book till now is that, at first she would never attempt to communicate with anyone. Now, she is trying her best to speak and express her feelings to other people that she feels secure with.

Melody is different now because she is mature and made new friends, not like last time when she was treated like a baby and doing the exact same things over and over in a non regular class but now she is working to it in a regular classroom and I think melody is a great person she was a bit weird to me at first when I heard about her but now I think that melody is a great person

I used to see melody as a person who seemed like she didn't enjoy her life because she wasn't able to talk and walk and she felt trapped in a sea of words, not being able to be spoken or heard. I felt like she was a very lonely person because she couldn't communicate but only can communicate through her communicating board. Now I think she is starting to be more happy not being so lonely because of room H5 interacting with the "regular" class. Now that she has a friend, she has someone to communicate to other than grown ups, that she has a friend her age just talking and being around her like she doesn't have a disability. Thus making her more confident, happy, and most importantly not alone.

During the progression of the book I start to see Melody from a whole new prospective. For example in the beginning of the book it described Melody being mentally handicap not being able to talk or walk. She has a photographic memory and she is the smartest in her class but she can't tell anyone because she can't talk. She has been handicap all her life, even as a baby, she couldn't even stand up without falling. She is bullied by Molly and Claire just because she isn't like them, she isn't considered "cool" to them. She faces the utmost of challenges. Hence Melody has to fight for what she wants to get. In other words in the first few chapters she describes that she cannot walk, talk, feed herself, or take herself to the bathroom, all things that bother her. However she can work a television remote and move her wheelchair. She also see's the worry on her parents faces and sadness as she grows and is unable to do many of the things other children can do. Despite her body's stiffness and often uncontrolled movements, her mind works. Then a few chapters later there was an incident with a bad teacher Mrs. Billups. She took six months to review the alphabet and plays baby songs each morning. One day, having enough of Mrs. Billups routines, Melody has a tornado explosion that causes the other students to become unruly. Mrs. Billups calls Melody's mother, who tells Mrs. Billups what Melody was able to do. Mrs. Billups quits a short while later. Her mom understood why she might have reacted in this certain matter. There is a whole other story, but let's cut to the chase. Melody is put in a normal class and she participates in spelling tests and she gets good marks on all her tests. Her friend helps her as she points to the letter and her friend writes it down. My thoughts have changed because in the beginning she was thought of a girl who had brown hair, blue eyes, and was 11 years old and was handicap. But as the book went along she talked with us and told us everything she felt and saw and she had so much potential but the world just wasn't able to see it. I am starting to see the young girl inside of Melody that wants to find a place for herself and the world isn't ready to accept it. She is trying, the words she speaks of foreshadows exactly that. Also, near the starting she seems like she is not being recognized for what she is able to do and there is not a single person who understands her. She is trapped. But now she has been able to showcase a few of her talents despite her disability. She is starting to be known as Melody you can say, it's not that girl on a wheelchair in room H5 anymore. She always had an identity and now people are starting to know about it.

I am starting to realize that Melody isn't just some random, retarted, stupid kid with special needs. Instead, I was very wrong. Melody is a very smart, independent, and determined child. In the start of the book, she had no way of communicating with anyone. But then, Mrs.V gave her a communication board. Although this kinda gave her a voice, she still didn't have enough words to speak her mind. So then, after so many years of not having a voice or not being able to walk, I thought she would eventually give up on her dream of walking or talking. But she was so determined to learn to walk and talk. Melody also got an aid to help her in school. And now she actually has friends now, unlike before. Before she was all alone. Now, she can interact with people and she also has friends.

My thoughts about melody changed since the beginning of the book because before I thought melody was going to stay the same, but now I know that she has a little sister, not in room H5 anymore and now she actually made some friends that are "normal". Melody's life changed a bit since the beginning of the book, I think it's because melody has a lady that is in her class to help her with work now. At first I really thought that she wasn't a normal kid and was a dump kid who couldn't speak. Now I know all kids are the same but not exactly, everybody isn't the same and melody is normal. Maybe not "normal", but she is a very very smart girl even though she is disabled. Melody's life changed and she is more happy.

In the begging of the book Melody really did not sociallize. Some how she can speak with out talking. She has a friend now, before she did not have any friends at school, well maybe she had some in R5. She is not afraid to be in a regular class now and maybe she might get alot of friends. she also is much smarter.
